Nazli Janparvar was a 27-year-old woman from Bojnord, the capital of North Khorasan province, who became one of the victims of Iran’s mid-January 2026 protest crackdown. She took part in nationwide demonstrations demanding freedom, equality, and the dismantling of the Islamic regime. Before going out to protest, she wrote a message calling for unity among Iran’s diverse communities and emphasizing that freedom required solidarity across ethnic, religious, and ideological lines. She was shot dead by Iranian security forces during protests in Tehran in early January 2026.

Nazli Janparvar was a young Iranian woman known for her strong political convictions and belief in collective struggle. Originally from Bojnord, she expressed a clear vision of freedom rooted in coexistence — Kurds, Lurs, Turks, Persians, women with and without hijab, believers and non-believers — living together without an Islamic government. Her final written message shows a deliberate political awareness, prioritizing unity and regime change over internal disagreements about future governance.

In early January 2026, as protests spread across Iran, Nazli joined demonstrations in Tehran, despite the escalating violence by security forces. On the evening of January 8–9, 2026, she was shot with live ammunition by state forces during the crackdown. Her death placed her among a growing number of women killed during the protests and later led to her being commemorated as part of “The Fallen for Freedom.”
