Maysara Ahmad Salah was a Palestinian journalist and member of the Quds News Network's editing and design team. He continued working as a media professional during the war in Gaza, where journalists and civilians faced continuing military attacks and severe restrictions on movement and access to medical care.
Several days before his death, Maysara was near Awni Al-Harthani School in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, when the area came under heavy Israeli military attack. The school was reportedly sheltering hundreds of displaced people. Maysara sustained serious injuries to his head and abdomen and was taken to Kamal Adwan Hospital for emergency treatment.
His condition was considered serious enough to require transfer to a hospital in Gaza City. On November 30, 2024, an ambulance transporting him was reportedly stopped at a checkpoint and held for approximately eight hours. According to the account provided by his colleagues, the delay prevented him from reaching the specialized medical treatment he urgently required. His condition deteriorated, and he died inside the ambulance before reaching his destination.
Quds News Network mourned Maysara as a colleague and journalist and said that he had been killed first through his physical injuries and subsequently through the alleged obstruction of his medical treatment.
Maysara died from the serious head and abdominal injuries he sustained during an Israeli military attack near Awni Al-Harthani School in Beit Lahia. After being treated at the severely strained Kamal Adwan Hospital, doctors determined that he needed to be transferred to a hospital in Gaza City. On November 30, 2024, the ambulance transporting him was reportedly stopped at a checkpoint separating northern Gaza from Gaza City and held for approximately eight hours. His condition deteriorated during the delay, and he died inside the ambulance before reaching the intended hospital.
Maysara was seriously injured several days before his death during an Israeli raid and bombardment near Awni Al-Harthani School in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza. He suffered significant injuries to his head and abdomen and was taken to Kamal Adwan Hospital, which was operating under extremely difficult conditions. Because his condition required treatment unavailable there, arrangements were made to transfer him to either Al-Ahli Arab Hospital or Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. On November 30, the ambulance carrying Maysara was reportedly stopped by Israeli forces at the checkpoint separating northern Gaza from Gaza City and detained for about eight hours. According to the account provided, he eventually received permission to pass, but by then his condition had deteriorated critically and he died inside the ambulance before reaching the hospital. His death was therefore attributed not only to the original injuries but also, according to his employer's account, to the prolonged obstruction of his access to necessary medical treatment.
